Worried about whether your label is compliant with the regulations?
Many people have asked me over the years if I would take a look at their labels and let them know if anything needed to be changed in order to comply with the regulations. So many people, in fact, that I now offer an actual service doing that.
If you have labels and you’re not sure whether they meet all the regulations, I can review them for you. I’ll look over the label and the pertinent regulations and point up any regulations that are applicable and may indicate that adjustments are needed for your label.

It’s an easy process! Purchase a label review, then send me image(s) of your label and a description of the container (bottle or jar, if any). From that, I run down my proparietary checklist of every regulation that applies to soap and cosmetic labels, checking your label against each requirement.
You get the completed checklist by email, with notes on each point and directions of what to do if there is something that should be addressed. You also get documentation explaining applicable regulations so you can review them for yourself.
After you have a chance to review the materials, I will answer any questions you may have.
Finally, if you make revisions to your label, I will take a quick look at the revised label and offer any additional suggestions.

How much does it cost?
$125. There are also some add-on services available.
How long does it take?
Usually the label review will be completed within 5 business days of when I receive the label content.
What information is required?
You will need to provide a copy of your label or final draft. The components of the label should be all placed where you intend them to go in the final printing. It can be any kind of image or virtually any file format (PDF is preferred), so long as all the text is readable. I also need the dimensions of the label, if they aren’t stated in the document you send.
Finally, I need to know the actual dimensions of the product (and the box, if there is one).
How many products are covered in the review?
The review covers one (1) product.
If you have multiple similar product labels, submit one and then you can use that to update your other labels.
If you have more than 3 labels you want individually reviewed, consider purchasing consulting. A package of consulting hours will turn out to be cheaper in the long run.
What if there is a front and back label?
If your product has a front and a back label, both are covered in a Basic Label Review.
What if there is a box and a jar and both have label content?
If the product is in a box or other outer container, the label of both the box and the inside container (jar or bottle) are covered in a Basic Label Review.
How is the report delivered?
Your report will be sent to you by email.
If you would like a Zoom call to go over your report, you can choose that add-on service. ($75)
What is covered the checklist?
The checklist covers:
Required label content (present or absent)
Net Contents – statement, format, size, and placement
Business name & address – completeness
Ingredient declaration and correct ingredient names
Contact for adverse event reporting (new with MoCRA)
Natural and organic claims
Environmental claims – free-of, sustainability, recyclability, etc.
Made in the USA claims – compliance with standards
Is verification of the correct ORDER of ingredients included?
No. In order to verify the order of the ingredients in the ingredient declaration, I need to have the exact formulation. This service is available as an optional add-on. ($100)
Is verification of compliance with IFRA standards included?
No. In order to verify compliance with IFRA standards, I need to have the exact fragrance components and their percentages in the whole. It’s a complex process to calculate.

Is calculation of the amount of fragrance allergens for California reporting included?
No. I need to have the exact fragrance components and their percentages in the whole to determine which (if any) fragrance allergens must be reported to California. It’s a complex process to calculate.

What about reviewing brochures or website content?
Marketing text that is ON the label (box or jar) is included in the label review. Other marketing materials, including brochures, signage, website content, social media posts, etc. is not included. If you want to get other marketing materials reviewed, it would be best to purchase a package of consulting hours.
Is a quick check of any revisions included?
Yes! If you make revisions based on any recommendations from the label review, you can send them to me and I’ll do a quick check for you.
