I’ve written a lot of different things over the years – poetry, short stories, promotional materials, product catalogs, website content, grant requests, press releases, legislative proposals, various articles, a white paper about sexual abuse by psychiatrists (that was interesting!), a stewardship plan for our family ranch and other things. Seems like no matter what type of job or activity I’m involved in, sooner or later I end up writing for or about it.
I’ve always enjoyed writing, but I got a lot better at it after I learned a valid Study Technology. It helped me understand what makes it hard for some people to retain what they read and gave me tools lessen those obstacles for my readers where possible. Writing is all about being able to communicate a point of view clearly and understandably.
Information on my book is below, and some of the other articles and publications are available to read.
Soap and Cosmetic Labeling: How to Follow The Rules and Regs
I wrote the book to clarify and explain the basic regulations and make them easy to understand (and follow). The 2nd edition, published in early 2008, added more pages, pictures and diagrams, including a complete chapter on the labeling of soap. It was reprinted and slightly updated in 2010.
Surprisingly, getting the labeling right isn’t very complicated … but it is very detailed.
This book explains, in plain English, how to follow product labeling rules and regulations from:
- Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act
- Fair Product and Labeling Act
- Uniform Weights & Measures Law
- Uniform Packaging and Labeling Regulations
- State Laws
In addition, the appendices include cosmetic color additives and their approved uses, INCI names for common ingredients, restricted and prohibited ingredients and metric conversion charts.
Whether you’re an old hand or a newcomer to the business of soap and cosmetics, you’ll find the information presented here to be clear and easy to understand, and Soap & Cosmetic Labeling an excellent guide through the maze of labeling regulations.
